Federal
A federal path, without the fog.
FedRAMP is a marathon with a very specific map. We help you decide whether to pursue it, define a realistic boundary, and build the evidence and documentation a 3PAO and agency sponsor will expect.
Why it matters
Federal buyers move slowly. Your readiness should not.
FedRAMP authorization is not a certification you buy. It is a rigorous assessment and authorization process involving a 3PAO, an agency sponsor, and continuous monitoring. The earlier you understand the boundary and the cost, the better the decision.
We start with a candid readiness assessment: what you have, what you need, and whether the investment matches your pipeline. If it does, we help build the package and stay through assessment.
What's included
Built around your environment.
What you walk away with
- A clear go/no-go decision
- A defined authorization boundary
- A control gap analysis against NIST 800-53
- An SSP and POA&M package
- A plan for 3PAO assessment and continuous monitoring
Authorization strategy
FedRAMP path, boundary, impact level, and a realistic go/no-go assessment.
Gap analysis
NIST 800-53 controls mapped to your current environment and evidence.
SSP & POA&M support
Documentation that reflects the system, not a copy-pasted template.
3PAO coordination
Assessment scoping, evidence requests, and remediation tracking.
Continuous monitoring
ConMon deliverables, change management, and annual assessment readiness.
Who it's for

FedRAMP questions
The details, before the first call.
If your question is not here, ask it directly. We will give you a straight answer.
Ask a different questionDo we need FedRAMP to sell to the government?
Not always. Some agencies accept other risk assessments or agency-specific authorizations, and some purchases fall below the threshold. FedRAMP is often required for cloud services handling federal data, but the right path depends on the agency and contract.
How long does FedRAMP take?
Assessment readiness commonly takes 3–9 months for a focused system. Authorization depends on the 3PAO, agency sponsor, findings, and remediation. We help you plan for the real timeline, not the brochure version.
What is a 3PAO?
A Third-Party Assessment Organization accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to perform FedRAMP assessments. SES prepares you for the assessment and coordinates with your 3PAO.
Should we pursue FedRAMP or StateRAMP?
It depends on your buyers. StateRAMP can be a useful path for state and local customers, while FedRAMP is the federal standard. We map your pipeline to the right program before you invest.
Can we reuse SOC 2 or ISO work?
Substantially, yes. Many controls overlap, but FedRAMP requires NIST 800-53 alignment, a defined boundary, and documentation at a different level of detail. We reuse what is defensible and fill the gaps.
